Adult Dosing Recommendations in Hepatic Impairment

  • The effect of hepatic dysfunction on drug clearance depends on several factors: degree of protein binding, hepatic blood flow, hepatic extraction ratio, whether the drug undergoes Phase I or Phase II metabolism, and degree to which other routes of metabolism/elimination compensate.

  • Unless otherwise stated, recommendations are for dosage adjustments in cases of severe hepatic dysfunction caused by cirrhosis.

For dosage adjustment in renal impairment, see Adult Dosing Recommendations in Renal Impairment.
