Group A Streptococcus (GAS)

- GAS is an uncommon cause of vulvovaginitis.

- Increased risk for GAS vulvovaginitis:

  • prepubertal
  • postpartum
  • postmenopausal.

- Often related to current/recent case or household outbreak of respiratory/dermal GAS infection.

 
Usual Pathogens

S. pyogenes (Group A Strep)
