Pancreatitis

- Diagnosis: presence of at least 2 of 3 following features:

  1. abdominal pain
  2. increased pancreatic enzyme, amylase and/or lipase levels ≥3x upper limit of normal
  3. CT scan findings of acute pancreatitis (pancreatic edema, necrosis, or pseudocyst formation).

- Alcohol abuse and gallstones are the two most common causes of pancreatitis.
