Low risk of anaphylaxis to penicillin:

  • nonspecific symptoms unlikely to be allergic: GI distress, headache, yeast vaginitis
  • nonurticarial maculopapular (morbilliform) rash without involvement of mucous membranes, palms, or soles
  • pruritis without rash
  • family history of penicillin allergy but no personal history
  • no recollection of allergic symptoms or treatment
